Last night I went to the free screening of An Inconvenient Truth at TTU. Al Gore himself was there but he was totally worthless because he spent the entire night crying since Trey and Megan didn’t show up. The movie itself was good, though I sometimes grew weary of Gore’s tactic of putting some schlock and ‘aw shucks’ between the scientific bits. I would have preferred a harder look at the science with more emphasis on actual numbers. However, I think it’s a great movie overall, and I of course urge you to see it. That doesn’t mean anything, though – when Jason C went on and on about it I didn’t run out and see it.
What we all need to realize is this: sometimes reading about something in a friend’s blog post doesn’t move you to action. You should change your ways and begin to accept me as your overlord. The sooner you do this the better and the less time you’ll have to spend in the sugar mines.
OKAY speaking of action, I need a yea or nay here. We all know I caved on growing a beard, though I have not discussed all the particulars. Doesn’t matter. Now the hair on my head is driving me crazy. I want to shave it all off. I present the following:
Pros: short hair
-Less work
-Can wear hats during winter without messing up hair
-Currently fairly stylish, or at least popular around these parts
Cons: short hair
-None currently known to science
Pros: long hair
-None currently known to science
Cons: long hair
-Can’t make it do anything resembling stylish
-Requires professional haircuts which apparently cost money
-I look like a doofus
Because I am a kind and benevolent ruthless overlord, I submit this to a vote. You, my people, my army, shall help me decide.
Should I cut my hair all short-like?
Yea or nay, folks?

Man, if you think five paragraphs from me is going on and on, you’ve read nothing from me.
On the hair issue: I first met you with really short hair (actually, shaved, I think) and I really freaked out when I saw a photo of you with long hair. I’m going to lean to short to prevent that from ever happening again (although it might fall under Pros or Cons, depending on your world-view).
Comment by Jason C October 5, 2006 @ 11:54 am@JC — if you think that picture was freaky, you should see some of the ones I found at my parents’ house last night. I will have to scan and flickr-ize them.
Comment by Trey October 5, 2006 @ 12:46 pmOh, and you should grow your hair out.
Comment by Trey October 5, 2006 @ 12:46 pmTrey, I can not wait to see what you found. I hope at least one of them is of me with my hand down my pants.
Comment by Kevin O'Mara October 5, 2006 @ 1:25 pmChange is good. Keep it long.
Comment by Washu October 5, 2006 @ 1:28 pmAfter wising up, I invested in a $7 pair of clippers from my local Wal-Mart. I cut my hair all by myself now and it looks just fine. Don’t ask me to do any fancy stuff….I’m just able to cut it all the same length currently. I figure $7 spent once for some clippers that last who knows how long is still cheaper than at least $11ish per monthly hair cut at any place around here.
Comment by Steven October 5, 2006 @ 3:37 pmI invested in some $50 Wahl clippers several years ago, and I’ve been very happy with them. I’ve got through lots of other clippers before that. They always end up rusting/dulling/pulling hair. These have been perfect the entire time, and the blades are replaceable if they ever do get dull.
Not from Wal-Mart. You get what you pay for.
Comment by Trey October 5, 2006 @ 3:53 pmas someone who has spent countless hours trying to destroy all the photo negatives of me with long hair, and who is now quite pleased with my current ‘do,’ i say: short.
actually, it *was* good to try the long-hair thing. among other things. but not again.
Comment by Ryan October 5, 2006 @ 9:21 pmI’m sticking with my original statement: “Let it grow.”
Just because all the locals around here have shiny, short hair, doesn’t mean you have to.
Comment by JTJ October 5, 2006 @ 11:38 pmShave it, Hippy.
Comment by Zane October 6, 2006 @ 5:23 ambeen there, done the long hair thing; CUT IT OFF, it’s so much easier to deal with (and no helmet hair)
